Esferas Navidenas

The way they make the Christmas-tree ornaments in Tlalpujahua is to start with about a one-inch glass tube.  You heat it up so it is soft and then stick one end in your mouth and blow air in the "nozzle" you have made.  If you want a specially-shaped ornament such as a bell or a teardrop shape, you put it in a mold while inflating it.

Leave the "nozzle" part attached to it because it makes a good handle to hold the ornament.  Then you paint it and dry it under big light bulbs.  Then use a small paintbrush to spread glue in the desired pattern.  Then you apply a generous amount of sparkly stuff with a tablespoon or a plastic scoop.

After it dries, brush off the loose sparkles with a feather-duster.

  1. You may be interested to know that after seeing that you use Spanish as well as English in theses blogs...and thinking about how these are blogs rather than Emails....I sent a notice to all of my high school Spanish teachers and suggested they might want to check your blog for things they might use in class. One has told me she has found it useful...so better not say anything you don't want a high school audiance reading.
