I found my old friend Darryl at his hotel, the Casa Rustica. Last time I was here, he had expanded and owned two hotels, but now he has SIX! And some of them are very nice. One--I think the largest--has something like twenty-one rooms and is in a building that used to be the private home of a Guatemalan Ambassador. I think the girl at the front desk said that he was ambassador to Nicaragua and also Ecuador and maybe some other country at different times. Anyway, the hotel is very nice, has three gardens and--heck, I am just going to go over there and take a few photos.
Later--OK, I got the pictures. Anyway, they have really rolled out the red carpet for me here. I am offered use of the washing machines to do my laundry and one of these days I might even try out the jacuzzi!
The park is nicely decorated for Christmas, the weather here is not as cold at night as I had been experiencing in Mexico, and things are going along pretty good. I've even run into some of the same old blowhards who hang out in the park every morning--ones I remember from previous visits.
There is a notice posted in one of the hotels telling the employees that for every 5-star review the hotel gets on the "Trip Advisor" website, Darryl will buy lunch for everybody, so I am considering whether I should go around to a few internet cafes and post reviews under a bunch of different names! Free lunch for everybody!!
Ahora estoy en La Antigua Guatemala, que solía ser la ciudad capital del país hasta que se cansaron de todos los terremotos y se trasladó a la ciudad de Guatemala en 1570-algo.

El parque está muy bien decorado para la Navidad, el tiempo aquí no es tan frío en la noche como lo había estado experimentando en México, y las cosas van a lo largo de bastante bien. He incluso ejecutar a algunos de los fanfarrones misma edad que pasar el rato en el parque todas las mañanas - los que recuerdo de sus visitas anteriores.
Hay un aviso publicado en uno de los hoteles diciendo a los empleados que por cada revisión de 5 estrellas, el hotel pone en la dirección del "Trip Advisor", Darryl va a comprar el almuerzo para todos, así que estoy considerando si debería ir en torno a unos pocos cafés Internet y revisiones del poste bajo un montón de nombres diferentes! Almuerzo gratis para todos!
