the Christmas Parade

Early afternoon on Sunday I was minding my own business, enjoying a cup of coffee under tha portals at the town square.  Then a parade passed by.  At the very front were clowns and other costumed figures like a wolf-man and a skeleton.  It looked as if they were wearing any sort of costume.  The clowns were followed by a pick-up with a band of sorts--a couple of drums and trumpets and I don't recall what other instruments

Then behind followed a number of flatbed trucks with the Holy Family on one and a lot of pre-schoolers dressed up like angels on another and the three kings and Santa Claus and maybe some others.  The little angels and Santas elves were throwing hard candies to people on the sidewalk.

Of course I could not pass up such an opportunity!  I hustled back to my RV and retrieved my Halloween mask, which I wore along with the straw hat that the crown was separated from the brim and when I glued them back together it came out crooked (I thought the hat looked sort of "clownish").  So I joined in with the rest of them and helped lead the parade through town.  Every few minutes I would drift toward the back of the parade and get a few more hard candies to pass out to the children along the way.

I guess we marched about an hour and a half, up one street and down the next, until we finally got to the Sagrada Familia church, where we set off some fireworks and then all the parade participants were fed bowls of pumpkin soup by some of the ladies from the church.

Both the people in the parade and those watching along the way seemed pleased that I decided to join in the fun--and I had a great time, too.



Temprano en la tarde del domingo estaba pensando en mis cosas, disfrutando de una taza de café en portales de Tha en la plaza del pueblo. A continuación, un desfile pasaba. En el frente fueron muy payasos y otros personajes disfrazados como un lobo-hombre y un esqueleto. Parecía como si se tratara de usar cualquier tipo de traje. Los payasos fueron seguidos por una pick-up con una banda de clase - un par de tambores y trompetas y yo no recuerdo lo que otros instrumentos

Luego siguieron detrás de una serie de camiones de plataforma con la Sagrada Familia en una y un montón de niños en edad preescolar vestidos como ángeles en otro y los tres reyes magos y Santa Claus y tal vez algunos otros. Los angelitos y Santas elfos estaban lanzando caramelos a la gente en la acera.

Por supuesto que no podía dejar pasar esta oportunidad! Me empujó de nuevo a mi RV y recuperar mi máscara de Halloween, que yo llevaba junto con el sombrero de paja que la corona se separó del ala y cuando les pega de nuevo juntos salió torcida (pensé que el sombrero parecía una especie de 'payaso' ). Así que se unió con el resto de ellos y ayudó a dirigir el desfile por la ciudad. Cada pocos minutos me la deriva hacia la parte posterior del desfile y obtener un poco más de caramelos para repartir a los niños a lo largo del camino.

Supongo que marcharon alrededor de una hora y media, hasta una calle y por la siguiente, hasta que finalmente llegó a la iglesia de la Sagrada Familia, donde nos pusimos en marcha algunos fuegos artificiales y, a continuación todos los participantes del desfile fueron alimentados con platos de sopa de calabaza por algunos de las damas de la iglesia.

Tanto la gente en el desfile y los espectadores a lo largo del camino parecía contento de que me decidí a participar en la diversión - y yo lo pasamos muy bien, también.
